She is the founder and CEO of Intergenerational Community Alliances & Programs Inc, (ICAP, Inc). It is a 501©(3) non-profit charitable organization. She is a Deaconess and attends Vine Memorial Baptist Church in West Philadelphia. Sandra is actively involved in the various ministries of music, drama, Sunday School, scholarship, and previous pulpit search committee. Sandra began her professional career as an educator. Early on she recognized that children bring many issues to the classroom that greatly impacts their success in life. Insightfully she left the field of education and entered Social Work to address some of these concerns. Her professional experience has included the expanse of children and seniors.

Sandra was co-founder and Executive Director of The Black Adoption Consortium, (aka BAC, Inc.), a nationally recognized specialized adoption agency located in New Jersey from 1991- 1999. (She retired the agency to become Caregiver for her father who was suddenly diagnosed with terminal cancer.) Sandra was introduced during the final weeks of her father’s end of life care to hospice services. The “daughter/friend Sandy” spent the most impacting moments of her life sharing in the end-of-life journey of her mother who was a cancer survivor of over 20 years. These life experiences introduced her to the concepts of palliative and hospice care.

She has been featured in multiple national and local news media as an adoption and permanency rights advocate for Afrikan American children. She has authored an adoption focused children’s book titled “We Are Family” and soon to be released book entitled “Derrick’s Journey Home.” Sandy is author of an inspirational book for women titled "Weaving the Threads of Faith Sisterly Encouragement 1." The various components of ICAP Inc. were conceived over 15 years ago. She has briefly introduced the separate concepts during the last few years. Sandra is a motivational speaker & presents life issues with passion.

Sandra has been a scouting leader and trainer as well as an amateur Storyteller. She has held membership in various socially impacting organizations and participated on several task forces promoting the betterment of children and families. Sandra has a dual degree in Early Childhood & Elementary Education from Pennsylvania State University and plus numerous certificates of training and courses in various social services. Sandra is the proud parent of son, Rasheen. She believes we must raise our sons to save our men and the life success of her son is a testament to that philosophy. Elder Gregory Johnson, SR, is the pastor of The Metropolitan Baptist Church (MBC) located in West Philadelphia. Pastor Johnson has served this ministry as pastor since 2004. Under the leadership of Pastor Johnson, MBC has enjoyed Spiritual Growth and new additions to the Christian Education Ministry and developed a strong Seniors Ministry. Outside of the church, Pastor Johnson is working hard in the Mantua and West Philadelphia community. He started a partnership with The McMichael School. Elder Johnson added, The Institute For Christian Learning as well as a Saturday class on Hermeneutics, which is taught not just to preachers but to lay people as well.

Elder Johnson is an active member and previous treasurer of The Baptist Pastors and Ministers Conference of Philadelphia and Vicinity. Pastor (Elder) Gregory Johnson has served in various leadership positions and is currently the church crisis intervention officer of the Pennsylvania Eastern Keystone Baptist Association (PEKBA) and an active member of the Black Clergy of Philadelphia & Vicinity. Before his sojourn to Philadelphia, Elder Johnson moved from Columbus, Ga. to Birmingham, AL as a staff photographer and later became the Assistant Chief Photographer. Prior to serving full time in ministry, Pastor Johnson spent 22 years working in the radio and television production industry. Before leaving the television industry, Elder Johnson gained an award for his photography work by the Associated Press. Elder Johnson has completed his Bachelor of Theology and Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling.

Amber was born and raised in West Philadelphia, and strongly believes in the power of sisterhood. She is currently a Residential Advisor at Girard College. In her adolescence, she saw many of the girls in her neighborhood become statistics to their environment as a result of a lack of responsible mentors. To prevent herself from falling victim to her surroundings, she put herself into a circle of older girls and women that were heading in a direction she wanted her life to emulate. In building these relationships with women that she refers to her as her sisters and aunties, Amber has been able to continue the cycle of positive mentorship with young girls in her family, church, and community.

In building meaningful and effective relationships, Amber hopes to increase her demographic to include all ages, genders, and socioeconomic status to ensure that no one ever feels alone or like they don’t have anyone to talk to. Amber is excited to work with BAV Girl and anticipates a major ripple effect, resulting in a society built from a continuously growing sisterhood. Amber attended Temple University with a degree in Early Childhood Education and is actively involved at her church and various music ministry genres.

She serves as President of the Blue Cross Foundation and Vice President of Government Relations at Blue Cross Blue Shield. Rev Marshall-Blake has over 40 years of experience in corporate management, public relations and communications. She serves as an associate minister and Director of Christian Education at Vine Memorial Baptist Church in Philadelphia. She also serves as the Chaplain/Worship Leader for the Women’s Ministry of the Pennsylvania State Baptist Convention. She is affiliated with more than 30 professional and civic organizations, including the United Negro College Fund, Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Omega Omega Chapter, Black Clergy of Philadelphia and Vicinity and the Governor's Advisory Committee on African American Affairs.

She has been named as one of Philadelphia Tribune's Most Influential African Americans every year since 2005, and Talk Magazine named her the Most Influential African American in the State of Pennsylvania in 2008 and a recipient of the Shero Award in 2017 from Funtimes Magazine. Rev. Blake is a contributing author in the publications “The Pink Sister Chronicles, Book Three” a collection of personal essays on surviving and thriving with breast cancer published by the Traci’s BIO and” Weaving the Threads of Faith…Sisterly Encouragement Part 1” various short stories by women about various life challenges by Sandra D. Lawrence. She received an honorary doctor of humanities degree from Albright College in May 2007. She is a graduate of Antioch College where she received a bachelor's degree in human services. She received a master's degree in government policy from the University of Pennsylvania.

Nicole Butler-Guindo is a native Philadelphian. She attended and graduated from W. Bodine High School of International Affairs and Temple University. She majored in Human Resource Management and received a Bachelor of Business Administration and has over 20 years of Business Experience in the areas Entrepreneurship, Real Estate investments and Tax Administration. She has a passion for helping individuals and families accomplish their financial goals by providing knowledge and encouragement to Tithe, Save, Invest and Expert Tax Advice.

Nicole has held leadership positions at Metropolitan Baptist Church as a Trustee and a Senior Care Ministry Facilitator. She was a member of the PCA Clergy Aging Interfaith Coalition and has been involved with the Ralston Center to support seniors in the church and in the community. Nicole is the proud parent of three children and strives to promote the importance of education, entrepreneurship and cultural diversity. With her love for traveling and for people, she will continue to impact the lives of others.

Leslie Karen Carter is treasurer of Intergenerational Community Alliance (ICAP, Inc) 501 C3. Leslie is a detailed oriented organized individual, a trait she picked up from her mother. Leslie is a member of Vine Memorial Baptist Church where she is involved in the hospitality, archives, newsletter and previously the media ministry. Her early career was in education where she taught English and history for the Upward Bound program.

She was a paralegal for Aramark corporation specializing in vendor contracts. The travel bug bit her and she used her people and customer service skills as a flight attendant (Eastern Airlines) and travel consultant for American Express. She managed domestic and international travel for major corporate clients and coordinated special events, projects, and business meetings for high level senior management.

After 911, Leslie became the executive assistant and office manager for former Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown. For almost twenty years she maintained the daily operations and procedures of the office, staff orientations, Councilwoman’s daily schedule, public appearances, speaking engagements, meeting with constituents and day to day administrative tasks. She retired from the Office of the Mayor where she was executive assistant to the Chief of Staff. Leslie currently serves as consultant for nonprofits Solid Rock and New Foundation and Board member for Grace and Style Dance studio. She loves art, music, and is an avid reader, writer, and editor.

Rhonda Fleming-Scarborough has over thirty five years in the field of Social Work. She is a licensed social worker (LSW). She has extensive professional experience providing multi-level services to a diverse population. Rhonda has initiated, developed and implemented various programs with energy and concern for people. As a Social Worker she has concentrated her focus on children and families. Her expertise was fine-tuned during employment with Tabor Children’s Services where she implemented the process of adoption from initial screening to the final decision. The majority years were spent at Albert Einstein Medical Center and the majority of her professional experiences included adults and special emphasis in Pediatric Specialties.

Rhonda has a background in consultant specialties of grief and family counseling, group facilitation, geriatric and adult crisis intervention and short term counseling. Additional previous employment includes West Philadelphia Community Mental Health Consortium and Young Women’s Christian Alliance. She is affiliated with Black Catholics Organization and has provided consultation and counseling in support of the Black Adoption Consortium, Inc. which was a nationally reputable adoption agency in New Jersey. Her education includes Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Cheyney State University and Master of Social work from Temple University. Rhonda is the proud and loving parent of son, Khary and daughter Angie, plus a devoted grandparent.

As an educator, Jacqueline has taught at the elementary, secondary, and college levels in public, charter, and parochial schools. She has worked in school administration focusing on student services to include discipline, test administration, and high school placement. She has taught and served as a School Based Teacher Leader and Instructional Specialist for the School District of Philadelphia at the high school level providing Professional Development to teachers and as an adjunct faculty member in the English department at the Community College of Philadelphia.

She has been a consultant, board member, or advisor to the following agencies and organizations: The Philadelphia Fatherhood Initiative, The Cobbs Creek Community Environmental Education Center, The West Philadelphia Cultural Alliance/Paul Robeson House Museum, the Germantown Historical Society, and the Columbia-North YMCA. She served on the Black History Advisory Committee of PHMC (Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission) for two terms.

In 2001, Jacqueline created an enrichment program called Underground Railroad Camps for Children, Youth, and Families. The program focuses on the under told story of the Underground Railroad and the significance of the people, places, and events that helped to shape and make real the word "freedom" in our society. In 2008, her camp became a member of the Network to Freedom Program of the National Park Service. In 2009, Jacqueline opened her tourism business called Wiggins Tours and More. Jacqueline received from Pennsylvania State University her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a minor in English & Journalism. She received from the University of Massachusetts her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration.

Lois Hayman-El is a native Philadelphian. She is a graduate of Overbrook High School, Hampton Institute, and UPENN School of Social Work. She has worked with all age groups. However, the majority of her career has been spent in the field of gerontology. She has supervised and trained people in the field of aging. She often helps people in the community to access and navigate the complexities of service for older adults and younger people with disabilities. She has a special interest in the area of grief and loss. With her husband of many years, she has served as a family caregiver and mentor for young people in the community.

She has supervised and trained people in the field of aging. In addition she has served as an Adjunct Faculty member at La Salle University, Lincoln University, Eastern University, University of St. Francis and Bryn Mawr School of Social Work and Social Research. She has been a board member of the following organizations over the years: the Presbytery of Philadelphia Self Development of People Committee, Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly, the Center on Ethnic and Minority Aging, the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania, and the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania. She has held officer positions with the National Association of Black Social Workers and the local Philadelphia chapter.

Leslie has over 25 years of experience in the social and health services world. She is widely recognized and known for her expertise and interpersonal finesse with the various positions of organization involvement in the community. Leslie currently works as an Associate State Director of Community Outreach & Engagement for AARP-NJ. She serves as an active board member to ASK Lupus and ICAP Inc. Leslie has specialized in building successful collaborative partnerships within the tri-state area of Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania throughout her career.

Leslie is a proud graduate of Douglass College at Rutgers University in New Brunswick where she received her undergraduate degree in Sociology and certification in Criminology. In her leisure time, Leslie enjoys reading classic black literature; hosting dinners, and walking her adorable golden pup, Stella –By- Starlight. You can also find Leslie in the beautiful country of Jamaica where she enjoys exploring the eco culture.

Ashley A. Mapp JD, MSW was a social worker who worked in recruitment with the Gift of Life Donor Program. Ashley JD, MSW decided upon a career change and returned to school in pursuit of a degree in Law. Ashley JD, MSW is fluent in the areas of legal, marketing and social media. She has provided consultation and volunteer time with various organizations.

Nora Cowell, RN BA is employed as the Community Outreach Specialist for the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA). Nora is knowledgeable about home health care on many levels. She specializes in coordinating home health services for veterans. She is a sought after expert on educating families and patients through the Palliative and Hospice system for quality of life. Nora will provide guidance and expertise in this focus of ICAP's mission. Nora is highly respected in the home health field and is well versed in Medicare and other related insurance issues. She has extensive nursing experience from pediatric to geriatrics. She is a graduate of Montgomery County Community College and Cheyney University. Nora is a wife, mother and grandmother who possess a sincere compassion for others.

Barbara Whiteman is the founder and curator of the infamous  Philadelphia Doll Museum.  She is nationally and internationally known for her collection and historical knowledge of Black dolls since 1988.  It is considered the only known museum in the United States that emphasizes the collection and preservation of Black dolls as artifacts of history and culture that assists in understanding the psychological and sociological development of Black people. She uses the collection as an educational, cultural teaching tool for all ages.

She is a sought after lecturer. For several years Barbara organized the Annual Black Doll Show and sale.  The museum is located at 2253 N. Broad St. (Broad & Dauphin). The museum serves as a meeting place for the Philadelphia Doll Society.  She is active in the various activities related to Black History.  ICAP staff member Jacqueline Wiggins has used the museum as a site for her Underground Railroad Camp and it is included in her docent training program.  Barbara can provide guidance for the docent educational focus for ICAP.

Rev. Beatrice Sims is an Associate Minister at St. Matthew African Methodist Episcopal Church in West Philadelphia under the leadership of co-pastors Rev. Vernon Byrd Jr. and Rev. Dr. Melinda Contreras-Byrd. A retired caseworker, she provided 29 years of social services through the Philadelphia County Board of Assistance to the underserved populations in Philadelphia. Rev. Sims is an advocate for breast health education and awareness with the Susan G. Komen team St. Matthew Healing Hands; captain of Team Al’s Kids in support of the American Heart/ American Stroke Association; and a member of Team Gettesons, an advocate for Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. In St. Matthew she established the Purple Bucket Campaign; a fundraising effort for Alzheimer’s which was adopted by the Alzheimer’s Association- Delaware Valley Chapter as a fundraising tool for churches throughout the community.

A representative clergy member of “P.C.A. Clergy –Aging Interfaith Coalition”, Rev. Sims is most passionate about her leadership in Outreach Ministry and Ministry to the Seniors and Homebound. Rev. Sims earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Temple University. She was licensed to preach in 2013, receiving her training in The Ministerial Institute of The African Methodist Episcopal Church. In 2018, she received her second ordination, as a Local Elder in the Philadelphia Conference. Rev. Sims believes that “people don’t do because they don’t know what to do or how to do”. Her goal is to empower the community through knowledge and resources.

Ron Holt is the accountant for ICAP Inc. He has extensive professional and volunteer experience in the accounting field.

Maria has worked in the field of Human Services for over 25 years. She has retired from active professional service since 2020 having taken on the role of caregiver for family members. She brings to ICAP a plethora of experiences including recruitment, public speaking and workshop facilitator. Maria has spent most of her professional experience having worked in the field of foster and adoption services. Prior to retirement she spent time assisting in life skills with women in transition to independent living. Maria also has performed and toured as a soloist vocalist both with her church and professional gospel choirs. Maria is active with her church in both culinary and music ministries. She is married with 1 son. Her educational background is in human services.
