Elder Gregory Johnson

Elder Gregory Johnson, SR, is the pastor of The Metropolitan Baptist Church (MBC) located in West Philadelphia. Pastor Johnson has served this ministry as pastor since 2004. Under the leadership of Pastor Johnson, MBC has enjoyed Spiritual Growth and new additions to the Christian Education Ministry and developed a strong Seniors Ministry. Outside of the church, Pastor Johnson is working hard in the Mantua and West Philadelphia community. He started a partnership with The McMichael School. Elder Johnson added, The Institute For Christian Learning as well as a Saturday class on Hermeneutics, which is taught not just to preachers but to lay people as well.
Elder Johnson is an active member and previous treasurer of The Baptist Pastors and Ministers Conference of Philadelphia and Vicinity. Pastor (Elder) Gregory Johnson has served in various leadership positions and is currently the church crisis intervention officer of the Pennsylvania Eastern Keystone Baptist Association (PEKBA) and an active member of the Black Clergy of Philadelphia & Vicinity. Before his sojourn to Philadelphia, Elder Johnson moved from Columbus, Ga. to Birmingham, AL as a staff photographer and later became the Assistant Chief Photographer. Prior to serving full time in ministry, Pastor Johnson spent 22 years working in the radio and television production industry. Before leaving the television industry, Elder Johnson gained an award for his photography work by the Associated Press. Elder Johnson has completed his Bachelor of Theology and Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling.
